Central-Merry High School’s annex building could be ready to house Early College High by next school year, according to Jim Campbell, chairman of the Jackson-Madison County School Board.
“The building itself is in great shape,” Campbell said. “It just needs a little tender loving care here and there.”

Campbell toured the facility last Wednesday, along with Verna Ruffin, superintendent, John Mills, facilities director, and Marshall Russell, who works with H&M Company.

Campbell is president and CEO of H&M and has volunteered H&M employees to come up with estimated cost figures for renovations to various district buildings. H&M will not be permitted to bid on any of the projects.

The school district is moving toward a December vote on closing some facilities, a plan which currently includes closing the main Jackson Central-Merry campus and rezoning those students to other high schools.
