Eight members of the Jackson-Madison County School Board met with the I Am JCM Coalition at the Jackson-Madison County Library Monday.
"I think it went really well," said coalition member Tenille Short. "I think the board was really receptive to what we had to say, and they do have a hard decision ahead of them. We just appreciate them taking the time to come and sit in the hot seat and take our questions."
Andre' Darnell, spokesman for the coalition, asked the board to postpone the Dec. 10 vote on Vision 2020 for the high school level. The board should use additional time to consult with architects, begin developing a master plan for Jackson-Central Merry and Madison and create public design workshops, he said.
The coalition asked the board to consider combining Madison Academic Magnet High School and Jackson Central-Merry High School. Under current proposals for Vision 2020, Madison would remain at its current location, the Early College High program would move into Jackson Central-Merry's annex building and the main Jackson Central-Merry campus would be closed.
