Bates, administration manager at Toyota Bodine Aluminum in Jackson, will testify before the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee at 9 a.m. (Central time) Tuesday, in support of the re-authorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career & Technical Education Act.
“The total bill is $1.1 billion, and it’s up for re-authorization,” Bates said. “The money is for students in high school, community colleges and technical schools to fund career and technology education classes.
“These monies are also used to help provide equipment, instruction training and instructors' salaries.”
The funds provided will help support career and technical education programs in each of the 50 states.
