Jackson Chamber offers many activities in September

Get out your calendar! September will be a busy month for the Jackson Chamber with exciting events happening every week.

The month kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Jackson Country Club for the Jackson Young Professionals’ Forked Deer Stream & Wetland Project Presentation. This project will create new outdoor recreational areas with wetlands and greenways for biking and hiking trails, canoe access and fishing opportunities.
David Blackwood, civil engineering manager of the West Tennessee River Basin Authority, will give an overview of the project and answer questions. The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It costs $15 for members and $25 for future members. Sponsors are West Tennessee Healthcare; Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC;  Murray Guard Inc.; Personnel Placements LLC; Simmons Bank; and Voya Financial Advisors Inc. – Brad Little and Steve Little. On Thursday, Sept. 15, Lori Nunnery, executive director of Jackson Tourism, will speak at Business at 212º about #JXNTNWKND. The breakfast, for chamber members only, is from 7:45-9 a.m. at the chamber. Sponsors are BancorpSouth and The Baker’s Rack. RSVP* required.
Later that day, Women in Business will host a lunch featuring fall fashions, business etiquette and networking with business-minded women. The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton-Jackson on U.S. 45 Bypass. 
Participating stores include Delta Designs, Felecia Bella, Hattie’s, Ima’s Fashions Inc. and Mimi’s Boutique. The event is sponsored by First South Bank, Nordstar Medical, West TN Women’s Center and Robert’s Jewelers. Cost is $25 for members or $35 for future members. RSVP* required.
On Friday, Sept. 16, movie lovers are invited to the AMP for a screening of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The event is part of the Jackson Amphitheater at the Market’s new movie series, Reels at the AMP.
The movie begins at sundown and will be shown on a 200-inch screen on the amphitheater stage. Movie goers are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and food. Food trucks also will sell refreshments until the end of the night.
The movie is sponsored by Jackson Chamber, Visit Jackson TN, The Jackson Sun and the city of Jackson.
The chamber’s next September event will be its Quarterly Membership Breakfast at Union University’s Carl Grant Event Center. Mike Krause, the newly named chief of the higher education commission, will give insight into Gov. Bill Haslam’s Drive to 55 initiative, as well as aligning higher education with workforce needs.
The breakfast is 7:30-9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23. It is sponsored by Rainey, Kizer, Reviere & Bell PLC. The cost is $12 to attend. RSVP* required.
The months’ last get-together is Business After Hours at Leaders Credit Union’s Digital Sales & Support and Corporate Culture office at 111 Murray Guard Drive. Come network, exchange business cards and enjoy hors d’oeuvres. You do not need to register for this free event. It will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. Leaders Credit Union is the sponsor.
