The West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex offers baseball and softball enthusiasts approximately 70 acres of fields adjacent to the Jackson Generals Ballpark. The facility includes a total of 17 fields used for regional and national baseball and softball tournaments, clinics and collegiate tournaments. The season runs from March - October. 2015 Brochure
When you visit Jackson you are within an hour or two drive to numerous state parks, including Shiloh National Military Park; Reelfoot Lake, which America’s bald eagle calls home in winter; and Chickasaw State Park and Natchez Trace State Park with their rustic trails and picnic areas. Paris Landing State Park and Pickwick State Park – northeast and southeast respectively from Jackson – sit on the scenic Tennessee River and offer boating, golf courses, lodging and other recreational activities. The Hatchie River National Wildlife Refuge remains the longest continuous stretch of naturally meandering river in the lower Mississippi River Valley.
City of Jackson Recreation and Parks
City of Jackson's Recreation & Parks Department provides active and passive recreation, athletics, and cultural enhancement, for all ages, interests and levels of ability. Overall, Recreation & Parks staff maintain more than 24 parks, recreation/community centers and historic sites.
From the serenity of Cypress Grove Nature Center to the excitement of sports leagues, the parks, centers, and sites maintained by the department offer year-round opportunities for recreation and athletic activities.
Cypress Grove is a preserve for indigenous wildlife, waterfowl, plants and trees. Just minutes from downtown Jackson and easily accessible from Interstate 40, the Park annually attracts tens of thousands of visitors. It offers over a mile of winding, elevated boardwalk through a cypress forest. The Park’s features include: Rockwell Observation Tower, 25 acre Wood Duck Lake, Killdeer Pond, and the Aerie Trail Raptor Center. Jackson BMX hosts races beginning March 15. They offer races for girls and boys with age groups that range from 5 and under to 45 and over. Riders must be members of the American Bicycle Association.
Jackson Generals Baseball
Catch the Jackson Generals, Seattle Mariner's AA Affiliate Pringles Park is a 6,000 seat Minor League Baseball stadium located in Jackson, Tennessee. Opened in 1998, it has been the friendly confines of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and now the Jackson Generals. Pringles Park was built by the City of Jackson, Tennessee and is the home of the Jackson Generals of the Southern League.
The Generals are the Class AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The stadium is located east of downtown Jackson and is visible from Interstate 40. The stadium is named after the Pringles brand which are manufactured in Jackson, TN.
Jackson Spokes Club
Jackson Spokes is an organization dedicated to the sport of bicycling. We encourage participation at all levels, from the novice to racing, Road and Mountain Biking, with safety as the first objective.
They are advocates for the rights of bicyclists to share the road, and will work for the inclusion of bicycle and pedestrian planning in future city and state parks.
"The Jackson Spokes" Tuesday / Thursday Group Club Rides on Tuesdays from Bicycle City and Thursdays from Trinity Christian School will begin on Tuesday March 12th starting at 5:30 p.m. The Saturday Morning Pope ride will now be starting at 8:00 a.m.
Madison County Parks and Recreation
The Department of the Madison County Parks and Recreation is responsible for maintaining the grounds and organizing a wide vareity of county wide adtivities such as youth football, cheerleading, wheelchair basketball and for providing for activities such as volleyball, walking and fishing.
Additionally they collaborate with non profit organizations to offer sports and recreation events such as youth softball, baseball, BMX races, rodeos, horse shoes and historic re-enactments.
Natchez Trace State Park
With the many acres of scenic woodlands, the park includes four lakes, a swimming beach, a 47 room resort inn and restaurant complex, cabins, group lodge, camping areas, picnicking sites, playgrounds, a ball field, a regulation pistol firing range, picturesque hiking trails, a wrangler camp, 250 miles of horse riding trails, a park store, and archery range. Located at I-40, exit 116, this area is composed of a State Park, State Forest and a WMA with a total of 48,000 acres. The Tennessee Division of State Parks, Tennessee Division of Forestry and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency share administration of this area.
Range USA of Jackson is one of the most state-of-the-art indoor shooting/retail facilities in the country. The 10,000 square foot facility houses two separate shooting ranges and it is our pledge to always have one of the two sides open for the public to shoot on.
Even though they may have classes or competitions in progress, public lanes are open to the public! The two ranges are computer controlled and can be sent down range individually in one foot increments. Range USA of Jackson makes shooting possible regardless of the weather, season, or time of day.
