David White Body Shop LLC has been officially certified by Assured Performance, a non-profit consumer advocacy organization for maintaining the right tools, equipment, training, and facility necessary to repair the participating Automaker brand vehicles according to the manufacturer's specifications. In achieving their certification, David White Body Shop is now an integral part of the most advanced repair capable and efficient auto body repair network in the world. Adding to their credentials, the body shop is officially recognized by Assured Performance, FCA, GM, Ford, Hyundai, and Nissan.

To become certified and officially recognized by the various Automakers, passing a rigorous certification process is essential to help ensure a proper and safe repair of the new generation of advanced vehicles. Less than 5 percent of body shops across the nation are able to meet the stringent requirements to become officially certified and recognized. The certified network is made up exclusively of best-in-class collision repair businesses that have met or exceeded the stringent requirements of the certification program.

"Our business has been built on a foundation of excellence and ethical business practices," says David White, owner of David White Body Shop. "We strive to provide the highest-quality repair for our customers. Our state-of-the-art facility and certified technicians give us the ability to achieve this Certified status."

The certification criteria is based upon auto manufacturer requirements. These are critical to ensure the vehicle fit, finish, durability, value and safety following an accident. As new model vehicles are being introduced that use light weight high strength materials and advanced technology, a proper repair according to manufacturer specification is even more important than ever to ensure the passenger safety and proper performance of the vehicle. Auto manufacturers want to ensure that consumers have the option of Certified Collision Repair wherever they live, work, or travel.

"Consumers need the confidence and peace of mind to know their vehicle is repaired by a shop that has what it takes to ensure the vehicle safety. David White Body Shop is officially a Collision Care Provider™," said Scott Biggs, CEO of Assured Performance Collision Care™. "They represent the standard by which all other body shops are measured."

Perhaps you follow her on social media or have heard her story through a friend. Maybe you don't even know who she is, but Laura Micetich, known as "The Iron Giantess," is an inspiration for all. After weighing in at over 300 pounds and teetering on the edge of pre-diabetes, the college graduate decided she had to change her life. She was even thinking of undergoing surgery to help. When she discovered she would have to radically alter her life just to have surgery, she decided she "didn't need to go under the knife, but under the bar," as Micetech puts it. She then found her greatest passion - fitness and health.

Two West Tennessee Healthcare employees have been chosen to participate in the national Disparities Leadership Program (DLP). Dr. Rose Bailey, operations support specialist, Administration and Katie Chandler, director, Guest Resources were chosen to participate in this year-long executive leadership program which tackles racial and ethnic disparities in health care. Bailey and Chandler are two of only 25 individuals from 15 health care organizations from around the United States selected for the 2017-2018 Disparities Leadership Program. They will join 156 other organizations that have participated in the Disparities Leadership Program from 2007-2017.

The Disparities Leadership Program is groundbreaking, being the first of its kind in the nation. It is designed for leaders from hospitals, health insurance plans, and other health care organizations who are seeking to develop practical strategies to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health care. This program is led by the Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Through this leadership program, the Disparities Solutions Center strives to prepare leaders to meet the challenges of health care transformation by improving quality for at-risk populations experiencing disparities.
The program’s three main goals are:
“This program is about developing new leaders and taking action. It is about helping individuals and their health care organizations understand the critical connection between improving quality and eliminating disparities in care through a concerted, coordinated effort to change our health care system,” said Joseph R. Betancourt, MD, MPH, director of the Disparities Solutions Center at MGH, and a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee.
The Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital was created in July 2005 as the nation’s first, hospital-based disparities center. It has significant experience in addressing racial and ethnic disparities in care, having worked with several leading health plans across the country (Aetna, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Florida, among others) to develop strategies to identify and eliminate disparities. In addition, DSC faculty have staffed the Massachusetts General Hospital Committee on Racial and Ethnic Disparities, pioneering activities such as the Disparities Dashboard, an innovative way to identify and monitor disparities, as well as the development of a culturally competent diabetes disease management program. DSC’s faculty has also played an important role in the effort among Boston hospitals to eliminate disparities under the leadership of the Boston Public Health Commission. These experiences have uniquely positioned DSC faculty to provide training to participants in addressing disparities through quality improvement.
“It is a great honor that two West Tennessee Healthcare employees have been selected to participate in the Disparities Leadership Program,” says West Tennessee Healthcare President & Chief Executive Officer James Ross. “Rose and Katie have worked diligently within our organization through its Diversity Council. The collection and interpretation of data is used to assist in developing strategies to improve health outcomes and address health disparities throughout our region. Rose and Katie are truly great representatives from our region to serve in this national program.”
The Disparities Leadership Program is jointly sponsored by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and supported by Joint Commission Resources (JCR), an affiliate of the Joint Commission.

Jackson has been included in the most recent list of a national network of Smart Gigabit Communities (SGC) by US Ignite.

Each community in the network has made a significant commitment toward embracing next-generation smart city and Internet technologies to keep pace with the world’s rapidly changing technology and economy. US Ignite, a nonprofit organization, spurs the creation of next-generation applications and services that leverage advanced networking technologies to build the foundation for smart communities.

JEA

In a press release, the organization said Jackson Energy Authority, a key partner and fiber pioneer, is dedicated to aligning Jackson’s gigabit infrastructure as a tool, test bed, and accelerator for economic, educational, and community benefit. “Jackson has focused efforts on bringing ultra-fast Internet speeds to help assure innovation as it relates to the next generation of education, medical care, public safety, and economic development.”

The newest communities listed among the 19 Smart Gigabit Communities also include Washington DC; Albuquergue, New Mexico; Phoenix; and San Diego.

The SGC program facilitates collaboration among municipalities, network carriers and other corporate partners, nonprofit organizations, and the university research community. Together, these organizations work to develop smart gigabit applications that address local community needs, including education, workforce development, public safety, community health, smart energy, and transportation.

Each SGC will develop two gigabit applications or gigabit services per year that provide advanced technology solutions to issues faced by that community. They also agree to share those applications with the other SGCs.
