Dixie-Jackson will be presenting the Rockabillys Halloween in July at the Rockabillys Baseball Stadium.  In addition to Dixie-Jackson as the presenting sponsor, the Rockabillys and the Jackson-Madison County Trunk or Treat are pleased to announce a partnership to bring the community a new twist on Halloween fun - Halloween in July with trunk or treating! When the Rockabillys take on the Terre Haute Rex on July 13th, we hope to see the stadium filled with fans of all ages in costume and ready for trunk-or-treat fun.  The first stop on the treat line will be outside the stadium, where fans under the age of 12 will receive a FREE general admission ticket to attend the game.  Once they are in the gates, there will be plenty of opportunity for fun as area businesses will have the opportunity to set up a station to pass out treats for the youth attending.  Area businesses, churches, and civic groups are all invited to partner with the Rockabillys, Dixie/Jackson, and Jackson-Madison County Trunk or Treat for this unique event. "We love adding a summer holiday to our schedule," said Lisa Bastien, Rockabillys Executive VP.  "Partnering with Dixie-Jackson and the Jackson-Madison County Trunk or Treat puts this event on another level!  We hope to spread the word and have as many children as possible participate in this free summer event," added Bastien. For twelve years, the Jackson- Madison County Trunk or Treat has existed to unite all federal and local emergency services, over ninety area businesses, and area churches to bring together the community for a safe, fun-filled event for 18,000 members of our community on Halloween. The owners of  Woodstock Bakery & Co. share the story of what inspired them to start their small business. With a rich history of positivity and a commitment to serving their community, this bakery has become a local favorite and a beacon of uplifting messages.  For nearly a decade, Laniey Upton Hayes had been an employee at Woodstock, faithfully serving the delicious treats that captured the hearts of their customers. Reflecting on her journey, Laniey credits the bakery's founders, Matt and Dale Childress, for the initial success of Woodstock. The bakery's vision and dedication to creating a positive environment inspired Laniey and Lexie to turn their dream into their own reality.  Woodstock, known for its diverse menu offering delightful desserts, deli options, and breakfast delicacies, has been serving the Jackson community for over 11 years. However, it wasn't until November 2022 that Lainey and her sister, Lexie, took over the ownership, infusing their own passion and creativity into the beloved establishment.  One of the unique aspects that sets Woodstock apart is their commitment to spreading joy through their uplifting quotes. From the beginning, the original owners initiated the practice of including these messages in every box. Today, Lainey and Lexie continue this tradition, believing that these quotes play a small but vital role in brightening their customers' days.  In addition to cupcakes and cake balls, Woodstock offers a wide range of treats, including macaroons, breads, chess squares, and their famous spicy Cheez-Its. With a dedicated baker working diligently from the early hours of the morning, the bakery ensures that every item is freshly made before opening its doors to eager customers.  The true success of Woodstock Bakeshop lies in the testimonials and stories shared by their loyal patrons. The inspirational quotes that accompany every purchase have left a lasting impact on many lives. Customers express their gratitude for the messages, with some even cutting them out and displaying them at home or work. It is this tangible connection that fuels the passion of the owners and reminds them of the profound difference they make in people's lives. Laniey and Lexie extend their heartfelt gratitude to the customers who continue to support local businesses.  Make sure to check out Woodstock Bakery & Co.  To nominate a well-deserving small business for the Greater Jackson Chamber’s next Small Business of the Month, click here.  The community is invited to participate in the Flag Day Ceremony at Liberty Garden Arboretum and Park. Keep Jackson Beautiful, in partnership with the City of Jackson, Madison County, and the American Legion Post 12, will celebrate the recognition of our stars and stripes, The Flag of The United States of America. Remembering those fallen and in honor of those who fight for our Liberty and Freedom, American Flags will line the Freedom Walking Trail. The American flags will be on display from June 9 through June 19. The Ned’s Teen Theatre is proud to present Footloose: The Musical starting Thursday, June 15, and running through Saturday, June 17. The production is Choreographed by Veronica Sesson and directed by David McCall, Executive Director of the Ned. The iconic story based on the 1984 film of the same name will offer a perfect blend of nostalgia and high-energy entertainment for all ages. The story follows Ren McCormack, a big-city teenager who moves to a small town where dancing is forbidden. Through his passion for music and dance, Ren leads a group of young locals to challenge the restrictive rules set by the town’s leadership. The musical features a memorable score, including hit songs such as “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Almost Paradise.”   Tickets are available by clicking the “Tickets” link at http://thened.jacksontn.gov   Footloose: The Musical Thursday, June 15, 7 pm Friday, June 16, 7 pm Saturday, June 17, 2 pm & 7 pm The Leadership Jackson Alumni Association (LJAA) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's annual alumni association scholarships. Three exceptional high school students from Jackson-Madison County have been selected to receive the Judy Renshaw Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Scholarship. The recipients are Katie Alexander from Jackson Christian School, Zane Harrison from Augustine School and Isabela Nolasco from Liberty Technology Magnet High School. The students were honored at the Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Quarterly Luncheon held on June 9, 2023. Each of the scholarship awardees received a grant of $1,500 to support their higher education endeavors. This scholarship aims to empower and invest in the education and leadership development of future leaders in our community. Alexander plans to attend Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Harrison plans to attend Union University, while Nolasco will continue her education at the University of Memphis. “While Leadership Jackson was created with an overall mission of strengthening our community, one constant objective is not only to develop engaged leaders but also invest in the education of our future leaders,” said Vadessa Flack, president, Leadership Jackson Alumni Association. “The Judy Renshaw Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Scholarship gives us the means to give back as it provides opportunities for high school graduates in our community to continue their educational and leadership development goals. On behalf of the LJAA Board, we congratulate these recipients and look forward to watching their educational journey unfold.” Funding for the scholarship is made possible through association dues and generous donations. The scholarship amount is a minimum of $1,500, payable to the recipient's chosen college or university during their freshman year. Other initiatives supported by Leadership Jackson Alumni dues include quarterly alumni luncheons, professional development programs, and the provision of "Comfort Critters" - stuffed animals used by emergency first responders in Jackson. The Judy Renshaw Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Scholarship was named in honor of Judy Renshaw in 2014, in recognition of her more than 35 years of dedicated work in developing the Leadership Jackson program. Individuals or donors who wish to make a tax-deductible donation in honor of Judy Renshaw to the scholarship fund may do so through the chamber's foundation. “I am humbled and honored to have this scholarship bear my name but tremendously excited for the youth that will receive additional funding for their college education,” Renshaw said. “We have so many bright and talented youth eager to make a positive difference. Jackson will be in good hands with these future leaders as they accomplish their dreams.”
