Held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center today in Jackson, Play Ball Jackson outlined the process and unique spin-offs to accompany the entries for that club.   The process is simple, as easy as 1-2-3. 1) Go to playballjackson.com 2) Click onto the "NAME YOUR TEAM" link 3) Complete the form and submit. An additional highlight of the contest is as follows: The first Jackson 5 Hundred fans submitting a unique entry will be mailed a stamped United States two-dollar bill redeemable for Jackson 5 dollars in the team merchandise store anytime during the 2023 season. "We're giving folks two dollars for their two cents worth!" mentioned Dennis Bastien, President of In The Big Inning.   "We want those submitting an entry to understand that we are looking for a name that has something to do with the Jackson and West Tennessee area, something very unique, catchy and rolls off the tongue well. It should be registrable and not used by any professional or college team in any sport. It should be something that will be recognized and relates to this region.  We are looking for the perfect marriage of name and image that can be transformed into a unique and identifiable logo,” added Bastien.   "We are truly looking forward to getting a team name, having the area get excited about who we are and what we do. Just having all of our current and new fans, past fans, and everyone who takes pride in being a part of baseball in this area looking forward to the announcement is a huge deal. We hope we stir the imagination of everyone's creativity," said Steve DeSalvo, General Manager of the new team.   The person submitting the chosen name or inspiration for the name will receive a lifetime Jackson Prospect League season ticket, a game cap, and celebrity status for Opening Night 2023. Our winner will arrive in a limousine to throw out a ceremonial first pitch.   The current plan is for the contest to run until March 31st. Next, they will narrow the potential names to the Jackson 5 finalists for a "GUESS YOUR TEAM" ballot. Details of that time frame and process will be announced.   For the latest information on Play Ball Jackson visit playballjackson.com.
