The Jackson Choral Society, under the direction of Zach Young, will be joined by members of the Jackson State Community College Innovation ensemble, directed Esther Gray. The 80+ member combined choir will be accompanied by a string orchestra. The program will consist of several shorter pieces around the theme of “Light!,” followed by the the Mid-South premier of Illuminare, a recently-composed multi-movement choral work by Elaine Hagenberg. The piece takes us through a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion. But as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace.
