Chamber’s Annual Celebration goes retro as it honors businesses for accomplishments

By: Jackson Chamber on Feb 17, 2016

Supporters of #throwbackthursday nostalgia will be in their element at the Jackson Chamber’s Annual Celebration on March 3.

The purpose of Annual Celebration is to celebrate one more time last year’s 2014 annual award winners and to learn the identities of the 2015 winners.

Along the way, the chamber is planning a few surprises for those who attend this year’s event, said Alexis Long, Jackson Chamber Manager of Events. Think retro. Think 1980s. Whether you are even fond of that decade, think fun.

(For the clueless, #throwbackthursday, or #throwback or #tbt is the name of a social media posting trend where participants share favorite memories, particularly pictures. Anyone can participate. Though, for the uninitiated, you may want to check the Internet for acceptable #tbt practices so you don’t appear clueless.)

The Jackson Chamber’s Annual Celebration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Union University’s Carl Grant Events Center. Reservations are a must and can be made by contacting Kristy Dew at [email protected] or 731-423-2200.

One highlight of the event will be a video about last year’s winners. Once again, they are …

• HORNE, CPAs & Business Advisors, Business of the Year, 1-49 employees

• Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC, Business of the Year, 50+ employees

• Tennalum, Industry of the Year

• Antonia’s Paw Spa Inc., Emerging Business of the Year

• Regional Inter-Faith Association, Nonprofit of the Year

• Toyota Bodine Aluminum, West Tennessee Healthcare Health & Wellness Award

• Heath Williams, Volunteer of the Year

Most people are at the Annual Celebration, however, to cheer on the new winners. The excitement mounts with the announcement of each winner.

Applications for the awards were due at the chamber January 4. They were then sent to judges in Middle and East Tennessee, who selected winners based solely on the application answers, Long said.

“Winning the 2014 Industry of the Year award last spring provided our plant’s workforce with a sense of pride about their achievements,” said Mark Lane, Tennalum plant manager. “The best parts of our organization were put on display when we won the (award).”

The $25 cost includes lunch. Sponsors of the event are West Tennessee Healthcare; Alexander Thompson Arnold PLLC; Commercial Bank and Trust Company; Horne, CPAs & Business Advisors; Steele Martin Jones & Company PLC; The Jackson Sun; Voya Financial Advisors Inc. – Steve and Brad Little; and West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation.
