Jackson State Community College Class

Education

In Jackson, we know today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce. A quality education at every level is key to a strong community and a prosperous economy. We work closely with all educational institutions in the area to advocate for policies and initiatives geared toward helping students prepare for post-secondary education and an eventual career. The Chamber works to engage the community in education and create opportunities for business leaders to get involved. Sponsored by the Leaders Education Foundation.

The Education Connection

The Education Connection (formerly Partners In Education) is a fresh approach built on one simple promise: we will show up for educators in real and meaningful ways. This program focuses on enhancing visibility, fostering encouragement, and strengthening connections between the Chamber and our local education community.

Pathways to Possibilities

Pathways2Possibilities

Pathways2Possibilities: P2P began as a hands-on, interactive career expo for all 8th graders and opportunity youth, ages 16-24, in South Mississippi every November at the Coast Convention Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. This unique event now spans multiple states including Alabama and Tennessee, impacting thousands of students.

P2P is a great opportunity for students to take the first steps in thinking about, making decisions and planning for his or her career future. Each student will explore, engage with professionals and gain insights into what their career future might look like through hands-on demonstrations.

The Career Expo seeks participants in each of the Tennessee Career Clusters. For each Career Cluster, students learn about the career options and the education levels and salaries associated with those careers. In addition, students use their career and skills assessments to match their interests and abilities with careers.

Manufacturing Institute

Manufacturing Day

MFG Day is manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about the industry, and build the foundation for the manufacturing workforce of the future. It empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive. Amid record job openings in manufacturing, our collective efforts are as important now as ever. Area manufacturers held tours and informational sessions to educate students about the skills needed for today’s jobs.

Other initiatives supported by the Chamber include tnAchieves, Complete Tennessee, and the Hub City Innovation Cup.
