The Jackson Area Ministerial Association is hosting the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Days of prayer have been called since 1775 when the Continental Congress designated a time for prayer in forming a new nation. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln called for such a day. Officially, the National Day of Prayer was established as an annual event by an act of Congress in 1952 and was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. The observance was moved to the first Thursday in May by President Ronald Reagan and has been proclaimed each year since.

 Breakfast begins at 7:00 a.m.
 Call to Worship 7:30 a.m.
 Benediction 8:25 a.m.
