The Jackson-Madison County Library is hosting a program in partnership with the Bicentennial celebration titled The Seven Pillars on Saturday, February 19, at 12:00 pm.
Angela Nelson Parks, Tony Black, and Tina Mercer will speak on African-American History in Jackson-Madison County. This program will elaborate on the newly erected Seven Pillars monument in Shirlene Mercer Park that honors African-American trailblazers of Jackson. Guest speakers include Professor Lee Benson, Richard Donnell, Judge Nathan Pride, Bodie Gentry, Wendy Trice Martin, Harold Carter, Daryl Hubbard, and Portia Burton. Special guest appearance by Shirlene Mercer!
The program will take place at the main library in the Program Center. Social distancing will be practiced and attendees are asked to wear masks. It will also be streamed live via Facebook.
