The American Public Power Association for the first time in its history has presented its Diamond RP3 Award for the seventh time to a local utility, the Jackson Energy Authority (JEA) in Jackson, TN.

The RP3 Award is the Association’s highest recognition for power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.

While there are more than 275 public utilities nationwide that hold an RP3 designation, the Jackson Energy Authority has received the highest possible recognition, the Diamond RP3 Award, more times than any other utility in the American Public Power Association.

“Receiving an RP3 designation is a great honor and demonstrates a utility’s commitment to implementing best industry practices in utility operation,” declared Aaron Haderle, chair of the Association’s RP3 Review Panel and manager of Transmission and Distribution Operations at Kissimmee Utility Authority, FL.

Jim Ferrell, president/CEO, of the Jackson Energy Authority noted, “This is a great honor! Achieving the highest possible recognition for an unprecedented seventh time says much about the dedicated work of our electric division and the benefit it provides JEA customers.”

Sr. Electric Vice-President Monte Cooper put the emphasis on employees and JEA’s special place in the community. Noted Cooper, “This Diamond RP3 Award says much about the dedicated staff in every department that works to ensure the reliable delivery of electric service. Any industrial or commercial prospect looking to invest in Jackson, TN can be confident in our ability to deliver the service they need.”

The American Public Power Association represents community-owned utilities in 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. This is the 15th year for presentation of RP3 Awards.
