JMC Library to Begin Curbside Service on May 6

May 4, 2020

The Jackson-Madison County Library will begin offering curbside service starting Wed., May 6 at both the Main Library downtown and the North Branch. Services offered will include picking up materials, computer use for essential government services and printing and faxing of essential documents.

Patrons interested in checking out materials can either call to place those items on hold or can use the library’s patron portal on its website to place items on hold. After receiving a notification, patrons can pull up to the library to notify staff that they have arrived to pick up those items. The library will also take walk-up requests for materials at both locations. Patrons coming to the Main Library should come to the College Street entrance to the building.

For those needing to use library computers, patrons are asked to call in advance to make an appointment, but walk-up will be accommodated provided availability. Printing and faxing requests can be done on a walk-up basis. All patrons coming into the building for computer appointments must wear a face covering and temperatures will be checked.

“We are looking forward to being able to offer these services to our patrons,” said Dinah Harris, Library Director. “As we move into this next phase of our reopening plan, we just ask for patience as we work to make this a smooth but safe process. We greatly miss our patrons and can’t wait until we are able to open our doors to the community.”

The library is also asking all patrons to return any materials they have at home to one of four drop boxes located throughout Jackson. To ensure the safety of both staff and patrons, any item returned will be quarantined for 72 hours before being loaned out to others. Overdue fines will not be charged until June.
