Housing Study

March 7, 2023

The Greater Jackson Chamber recently concluded a housing study to address the frequently asked questions regarding the future demand for housing in Jackson-Madison County. This report compiles and analyzes data particularly related to BlueOval City to provide a foundation for planning.

Hear from our President & CEO, Kyle Spurgeon, as he explains some of the most important findings from this housing study:

Summary of Findings

  • Jackson-Madison County will experience significant growth from BlueOval City.
  • In order to achieve growth potential, housing units will have to be added faster than in recent decades.
  • Growth, particularly after 3-5 years, will occur in parts of Madison County closest to BlueOval City.
  • BlueOval City workers have multiple choices of residential locations - metro, suburban, and rural.
  • Planning, infrastructure investments, and continued improvements in public education will be necessary.

The full housing study report includes many useful statistics, including historical and projected population demographics, comparisons with other metro areas that have experienced changes and growth with major industrial additions, current housing market zones in our area in relation to BlueOval City commute times, supply and demand housing analysis, and much more. The full housing study report, prepared by local firm Younger Associates, is a great tool for our community to use as we move closer to the opening of the BlueOval City industrial campus, current industrial expansions in Madison County, and the addition of even more new industries and suppliers in our area.
